Delbert Fox Obituary

Delbert Lee Fox  of Moscow Mills, Missouri passed away on April 9, 2024 at the age of 95. Delbert was born September 18, 1928 in Vandalia, Missouri; son of the late Harvey Coons Fox and Margaret Sue (Davis) Fox.  

Delbert worked in several manufacturing positions before joining the Air Force in May 1947.  He served 3 years and after leaving the Air Force he married the love of his life Virginia A. Green in St. Clements, Missouri on October 20, 1951.  They raised 11 children together and were married for 71 years until her death on July 4, 2023.  

He worked for Fisher Body (General Motors) retiring at the age of 55.  Following his retirement, he found a new passion of metal detecting, and also helped around the house taking care of the grandchildren.  He helped Virginia with their family business Fox Manufacturing making formal wear and helped her cut out fabric to make quilts.  

He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved visiting with them and listening to everyone's stories and wanted everyone to always get along. He had a passion for gardening, growing tomatoes, raising chickens, and loved his pets Leo and Checkers.  He also enjoyed putting puzzles together, watching westerns and watching ME-TV, along with the Flintstones and Jetsons on Sunday mornings. 

He is survived by his ten children, William "Eddie" (Shirley) Fox of Dardenne Prairie, MO, Roger (Mary) Fox of Warsaw, MO, Alma Denise  (Jimmy) Hall of Wichita, KS, Thomas (Janet) Fox of Warsaw, MO, Teresa (Scott Lininger) Waier of Independence, MO, Kerry (Beverly) Fox of Lakeland, FL, Paul (Linda) Fox of Moscow Mills, MO, Francis "Teddy" (Kerry Lee) Fox of Pevely, MO, Ethel (Dennis) Gage of Winfield, MO, Eva (Eric) Coen of Centralia, MO; 34 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren;  and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.  He is preceded in death by his father, Harvey Coons Fox, mother, Margaret Sue (Davis) Fox, wife, Virginia Alma (Green) Fox, son, Charles Fox, brothers, Hank Fox and his wife, Mary and William Fox and his wife Ruth, sister, Mildred Montague and her husband James, grandson, Glen Fox, granddaughters, Meloney Fox and Angela May.  

Delbert had a very loving and gentle spirit.  His lifelong philosophy was to handle all situations as they arose without hesitation and with courage.  He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
