John Ray Moorman, 76, of Wentzville, Missouri, died on April 1st, 2024. He is survived by his two sons, Daniel (Gretchen) Moorman and Stephen Moorman. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Luke (18), Molly (16), Alyson (15), and Camryn (12), and brother, Rex (Cheryl) Moorman, and sisters-in-law Judy (Lee Wayne) Moorman and Sandy (Edgar Lee Jr.) Reininger.
John was born to the late Edgar Lee Moorman Sr. and Ruth Iolene (Audrain) Moorman on May 10th, 1947, in Warrenton. In addition to Rex, John was raised in Wentzville with an older brother, the late Lee Wayne (Butch) Moorman and a younger brother, the late Edgar Lee Moorman Jr.
Shortly after the beginning of his 5th grade year at St. Patrick school in Wentzville, John met Kathy Swetnam… a newly enrolled 6th grader. Although unknown to John at the time, that meeting began the most important relationship of his life. John and Kathy were married on June 22, 1968, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. They raised their boys in Wentzville and remained happily married for 54 years until Kathy passed on December 27th, 2022.
John graduated from Wentzville High School in 1965 and followed with a degree in accounting from Southeast Missouri State University. John served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He had a very successful professional career in a variety of roles, including accountant, controller, and as an owner in Versa-Tech Inc., located in Fredericktown, Missouri. More importantly, however, John was a man of faith who greatly enjoyed hunting with friends, casino trips with Kathy, and supporting his grandchildren in whatever their endeavors may be.
John Moorman adored and prioritized his family (especially those grandchildren) and will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wentzville American Legion Post 323, or Evelyn’s House specializing in hospice care.
