Obituary
Dr. James M. Jolly, Jr. of Clarksville, MO well known orthodontist and dearly loved husband, father and grandfather passed from this life on November 18, 2012. After a brief but vicious bout with acute Myeloid Leukemia, his wishes are to be cremated with memorial services to be announced at a later date.
Grieving survivors of his immediate family are his wife of 48 years and his soul-mate, Sharyn; daughters Joann Michelle and Megan Marie; Megan's spouse Jeffrey Brown; Son Andrew Michael and his wife Malia and their two sons and his adored grandsons Andrew James and Austin Michael Jolly. A sister, Janet and her husband John Rau; brother David Jolly and nieces, a nephew and great niece also grieve at the loss.
Dr. Jolly was born October 22, 1945 in St. Charles, MO to Dr. James M. Jolly, Sr. and Helen Rose Bruns Jolly, both of whom predeceased him as did his paternal grandparents Irvin G. Bruns and Edna Schoene Bruns and maternal grandparents Benjamin Jolly and Maggie Belle Blackwell Jolly. Dr. Jolly was proud of his St. Charles heritage. His maternal granddad founded the then renowned St. Charles Dairy and his paternal grandad was the superintendent of St. Charles Schools for many years.
Dr. Jolly graduated from Washington University Dental School with honors and attained his Masters in Orthodontics from that insitution as well. He practiced in Clayton, MO with his father, subsequently expanded to St. Charles and eventually moved to Clarksville and practiced in Hannibal for the last 20 years. He rejoiced in retiring this past March after 36 years in practice.
Being an avid outdoorsman, he proudly supported the NRA and was a Golden Eagle Member. He also was a member of the AAO, ADA, MDA; served on the St. Charles Parks and Recreation Board, Board of Directors of St. Charles Country Club and member of the St. Charles Jaycees.
It was Dr. Jolly's fondest dream to be remembered by the smiles he made. As anyone who knew him would say, "He really lived."
In the words of Emily Dickinson "Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality."
Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude's Hospital, his favorite charity. For him it was always about the children.
