Alvin E. Pettig, 89, of Warrenton, MO, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at Warrenton Manor surrounded by his loving family.
Alvin was born April 6, 1930, the son of the late George and Edna (Franklin) Pettig.
Alvin is survived by his beloved wife Anna Mae (Swoboda) Pettig of 62 years. They were married on February 23, 1957, at Rolla, MO.
Alvin is also survived by a daughter Sharon Charlton, a son Gary Pettig and wife Nancy all of Warrenton, and a daughter Diann Straatmann and Dale Straatmann of Beaufort; four grandchildren Joe Straatmann and wife Sarah of St. Clair, Casey Lafferty and husband Alex of Warrenton, Brad Pettig of Warrenton, and Jenna Straatmann of Beaufort; three great grandchildren Matt and Barrett Straatmann and Ivary Lafferty; sister-in-law Elda Pettig of Hermann, niece, Carlene Vetter of Warrenton, and other dear loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Imajewell Hackel and husband Vernon, twin brother Erlloyd Pettig and his daughter Cheryl Lynn.
Alvin worked for the Binkley Company in Warrenton for 46 years, and was a 60 year member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He was a die-hard Chevy fan, enjoyed collecting and working on vintage trucks in his spare time. Alvin was also an avid dancer of polkas and waltzes. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation for Mr. Pettig will be Wednesday, February 19, from 5:00 to 8:00PM at Pitman Funeral Home, 904 S. Hwy. 47, Warrenton, MO 63383. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Kendall Bopp, will be Thursday, February 20, at 11:00AM at Pitman Funeral Home in Warrenton. Interment will follow at Lippstadt Cemetery with a luncheon at the Warrenton Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Lippstadt Cemetery Fund.
