Barbara Jane McFarland, December 1, 1948 to June 22,2026, wife to Michael McFarland for 52 years.  Mother to Sean (Cera) McFarland, Jenny (Jeff) Scherr, Kevin (Jen) McFarland.
Grandmother to Evan (Madison), Brendan, Cody, Cole, and Marcus McFarland, Madison and Molly Scherr, and Colin and Gavin McFarland. Daughter to the late Norman and Bernice Fitzler and sister to Ron (Margie) Fitzler, Dave (Lisa) Fitzler, Cathy (Jon) Castner. sister-in-law to Jan Fitzler, and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Ken Fitzler. 

Barbara grew up in Woodson Terrace and attended St. Williams Grade School and graduated from Mercy High School in 1967.  After graduating from nursing school, she worked at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Research Hospital until 1975.  In 1985 after her three children were in school, she returned to nursing at Pediatric Association, in Florissant for Dr. Wimmer and Dr. Hellweg, retiring in 1999.  In 2002 she was a consultant for Birthwright in Wentzville.

She loved her family and loved caring for others. She loved spending time with her grandkids and would gladly put everything else on hold to enjoy their visits.
