Betty was born on October 5, 1927 in Oxford, England to her parents, George and Lillian (nee Cook) Parrott. Betty attended primary and secondary schools in Oxford and during World War 2, at the age of 17; she met the love of her life, an American soldier, Fred “Chub” Bade, Jr. of Femme Osage, Missouri.

Eventually, Chub and Betty made Augusta, Missouri their home. The marriage was blessed with two children, Michael and Sheila. Chub and Betty shared over 48 years of marriage together, until Chub passed away suddenly on February 28, 1994.
