Betty Vanover (Bryant) Obituary

Betty Lou Vanover (Bryant) (nee: Berry), daughter of the late Ronnie Berry (father)/Robert Schain (loving stepfather) and Velma Schain (nee: Conway) was born May 8, 1940 in Palmer, Missouri and peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones, on July 5, 2025.

She was wed in holy matrimony to Paul Dean Bryant on March 2, 1957. This union was blessed with three children. Paul Dean Bryant preceded her in death on April 24, 2000. Betty was later wed in holy matrimony to Jerry Allen Vanover. They were married for 16 years. Jerry Allen Vanover preceded her in death on April 26, 2020.

Betty began her working life alongside her mom and stepfather at a South County greenhouse they ran and operated, where she developed a deep appreciation for plants and hard work. Later, she dedicated over 20 years of service as a healthcare environmental service provider at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri. She then transferred to St. Joseph’s Hospital West, in Lake St. Louis, Missouri where her attention to detail and kind heart left a lasting impression on both staff and patients alike. Betty took pride in her work and was known for her quiet strength, reliability, and gentle spirit.

Betty was someone who found joy in life’s simplest, most meaningful moments. Nothing made her happier than special moments with her family, sharing stories, playing the piano, singing, laughing, playing bingo, shopping, camping, and making delicious meals with love. Her home was a place where everyone felt welcome, where warmth lived in every corner, and where family always came first.
When she wasn’t with her loved ones, you could find her outside, hands in the soil, tending to her flowers with care. Gardening was her calm and peaceful sanctuary. Each season brought new life to her yard, flowers blooming in beautiful colors as vibrant as her spirit. She nurtured her plants the same way she nurtured her family—with patience, love, devotion, and a gentle touch.
She had a twinkle in her eye and a sweet spirit that made her unforgettable. Betty had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and loved—even if she gently teased you along the way.
Her energy was contagious, her presence unforgettable, and her laugh? It was the kind you could hear from the other room— would always make you grin.
Betty was full of life, laughter, and just the right amount of sass. She had a spunky personality that lit up every room she entered. Whether she was laughing, dancing, or speaking her mind (without apology), you always knew Betty was around—and you were extremely grateful.

Betty will truly be missed by her family and friends, but there is great peace in knowing that she will spend eternity with her Lord & Savior.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her family:
