Betty Ann Welland

Betty Ann Welland, age 87, of St. Louis, MO, and formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away October 14, 2025. She was born March 29, 1938 in St. Louis, daughter of Joseph Peter Wellnd and Susan Ebner-Welland. Betty is survived by her nieces, Mary (John), Jennifer (David), Heather (Paul), nephew, Robert, Jr. (Lexi), and 10 great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Dr. Kathleen Welland-McLaughlin. 

Betty received a Nursing Degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, where she met her lifelong friend, Rita Flaherty. They moved to Chicago where they both worked as nurses. Later in life she went back to school to receive her Education Degree in Educational Psychology and Special Education, graduating in 1988 from Northern Illinois University. 

Betty loved the culture and arts provided by the city of Chicago. She also was an adventurous soul who loved to travel the globe and make friends everywhere she went. There was no stone unturned in her quests for new locations and sites. Her zest for life colored everything she did. 

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
