Carla Shimek (Shimek) Woods

Carla Shimek Woods of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on June 6, 2025 at the age of 64. She is survived by her beloved husband, Randy Woods of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri; father, Ronald Shimek of Parma, OH; mother, Irene Shimek (nee: Staskey) of Parma, OH; son, Michael (Natalie) Schroeder of Troy, MO; step-son, Chris Woods of St. Charles, MO; two daughters, Melissa (Eddie) Barnes of Troy, MO, Mallory (Victor) Byers of Detroit, MI; step-daughter, Angela (Fadi) AbuShahin of Ft. Meyers, FL; brother, Greg (Missy) Shimek of OH; two sisters, Wendy (Michael) Shimek of OH, Jill Shimek of OH; grandchildren, Mason, Anna, Dominic, Chayton, Julia, Ryan, Lucas, Logan and Leila; three nephews, Alex, Jason and Ryan; one niece, Sarah.

 Carla and Randall were married for 29 beautiful years, and they were blessed with three children, Michael, Melissa, and Mallory, along with her step-son Chris and step-daughter Angela. Carla devoted her professional life to education, serving as a 7th and 8th-grade teacher for 30 years. After retiring in 2017, she pursued her passion for writing and transitioned into a fulfilling second career as a writer, editor, proofreader, and project manager. Her love for learning and creativity inspired many of her students and colleagues alike. Beyond her professional achievements, Carla enjoyed reading, and was a passionate sports fan who enjoyed attending games, as well as going to the movies. Carla enjoyed her grandchildren, and she cherished every moment spent with them, especially attending their special events. Carla will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
