Charles Gilman Obituary

Charles D. Gilman, age 81, of Troy, MO passed away on July 7, 2025. Born on October 2, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the beloved son of Fredrick and Mary Gilman.

Charles served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam from 1969-1971. A dedicated and hardworking man, Charles spent much of his career as a printer for Hoffman Printing and later worked with several billboard companies throughout the area. After retirement, he found great joy in serving the community as a school bus driver for the Troy School District.

On March 25, 1972, he married the love of his life, Linda. It was love a first sight when they met at Howard Johnson's on the Rock Road, waitress Linda in her short uniform that caught his eye, and for Linda it was his beautiful eyes. Together, they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage, building a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

He had a passion for the simple joys in life. He loved fishing, coin collecting, dancing, traveling, and listening to music. He especially enjoyed long drives through the countryside, where he would admire old barns and the quiet beauty of rural roads.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Gilman nee Vanover, his five children, Michael (JoAnn) Gilman, Jennie Gilman, Tim Gilman, Andrew (Jenna) Gilman, and Jeff (Abby) Gilman; sister, Sue Haldeman; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick D. and Mary A. Gilman nee Barton.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
