Christine Rohleder Obituary

Christine Marie Rohleder (née: Flavin) was born on March 31, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Dorothy and Robert “Bob” Flavin. As the oldest of nine children, she grew up surrounded by a lively and loving family that would remain a central part of her life.

In 1970, Christine married James Rohleder, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, family, and shared adventure. Together they built a life centered around their children and the experiences that brought their family closer together. The couple met in the city of Chicago and spent the majority of their lives traveling, boating and watching their children grow.

Christine is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Monica Rohleder of Los Angeles, California, Monica’s husband Timothy Duffy, and their children Riley and Moira Duffy; and by her son, Brian Rohleder of Castle Rock, Colorado, his wife Shannon Rohleder, and their children Finnegan and Rory Rohleder, who brought her great joy as a grandmother.

She is also survived by her siblings: Robert Flavin (Jean), Michael Flavin (Kathleen), Patricia Mileszko (Michael, deceased), Glennon Flavin (Annie), Mary Jaromack (Jimmy), Kathy Mattli (Chris), Colleen Kinworthy (Michael, deceased), and Kelly Zangraft (Scott), along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends whose lives she touched.

Christine grew up just outside St. Louis but always dreamed of seeing more of the world. At just eighteen years old, she followed that dream to Chicago, where she began working as a flight attendant. What started as a job soon became a lifelong passion. Through her travels she experienced cultures across the globe, forming friendships and creating memories that would shape her life.

Among all the places she visited, Kona on the Island of Hawaii held a special place in her heart. For the last twenty years of her life, she owned a home there and returned as often as she could. She felt deeply connected to the spirit of the island — the living energy of the volcanoes, the stark beauty of the black lava rock, and the endless blue of the Pacific Ocean. Kona brought her a sense of peace and belonging, a place where she could slow down, breathe deeply, and simply be.

Christine carried that spirit of curiosity and adventure with her wherever she went, and she passed that love of travel on to those around her. As her children built lives in new places, she took great joy in visiting them in Denver and Los Angeles, cherishing every opportunity to spend time with her family and grandchildren.

Later in life, Christine and Jim moved to Wentzville, Missouri to be near family.

Above all else, Christine was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Christine was a giver, and she will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, time, adventurous spirit, and how she embraced life everyday. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
