Conley (Sonny) DePriest was born October 13, 1935, to Octavius and Gladys (Rowland) DePriest in Poplar Bluff, MO. He joined his parents in Heaven on the morning of November 12, 2021 at age 86. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda (Fields); his children Brenda Gerstanschlager, Steve, Michelle (Warren Grable), and Rodney (Angela); his grandchildren Rebekah, Jillian, Ethan, Marshall, and Teresa; six great-grandchildren; and three of his ten siblings: Judy (Don) Kaesar, Donna (LeRoy) Harrington, and Robert (Dena) DePriest.
Since 1965, Sonny and Linda have lived in the house they had built in Foristell. Sonny was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wentzville for 55 years, American Legion Post 323 (he was a veteran of the U.S. Army), and Pauldingville Masonic Lodge #11, where he served in so many capacities (including Worshipful Master) that the lodge building was renamed in his honor. He retired from McDonnel Douglas (now Boeing) after 37 years then continued to work part-time for many years, often utilizing his handyman skills of fixing all things mechanical and building anything out of wood. Over his lifetime, he enjoyed many pastimes including softball, golf, fishing (in his pond and the ocean), and even skydiving but his favorite thing was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He lived his life in such a way that his passing will leave not only a gaping hole but a mountain of wonderful memories in the lives of those who knew him.
There will be no visitation or service but those wishing to honor Sonny’s memory can make a donation to The Backstoppers or to Parkinson’s research.
