David Hoskins Obituary

David William Hoskins, of Silex, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2021. David was born on March 11, 1929, to Norman Lee and Abbie Lee Hoskins nee Baremore. He is survived by his two sons, Daniel and David Hoskins; daughter, Lisa Meder; five grandsons, Jeremy (Jenifer) Hoskins, Gabriel and Christopher Hoskins, Michael Goldsmith, and Matthew (Kristen) Meder; four granddaughters, Kasey (Jimmy) Crutchfield, Jessica Hoskins, Samantha (Joe) Kellogg, and Kelly Meder; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Susie Hoskins-Waters. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Harold, Loyeal, John and Edward Hoskins. As well as his long-time special friend and partner, Faye Alice Eddy.

David proudly served in the U.S. Army for 18 years. During that period, he bravely fought and was injured during the Korean War. He also served on the Honor Guard during the Tokyo War Crimes Trial and served as an MP at Leavenworth at the latter part of his military career. After retiring from the military, David worked several jobs, primarily as a master truck driver. His passion though was raising and racing horses. He loved teaching others and sharing his knowledge of horsemanship to anyone that was hungry to learn. As the years passed his favorite pastime was to ride the trails with his friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
