David A. Sydow passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 87.
He was born September 19, 1938, to Carl and Helen Sydow, and grew up in and around St. Louis, MO. David proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force before marrying the love of his life, Eileen Finnegan, in 1962. They celebrated 62 years of marriage and were nearly inseparable, spending at most a handful of weeks apart over their years together.
David was never afraid of hard work, both on the job and around the house. He enjoyed working with his hands, from building barns, renovating houses & repairing cars, to fixing all manner of broken “things” - there seemed to be nothing he could not tackle. He was always ready to lend a helping hand for family, friends and neighbors. But he had an extra soft spot for his wife and daughters, who were often the reasons behind those building, renovating, repairing and fixing projects.
David never met a stranger and would happily talk to anyone regarding virtually any topic, especially his daughters and his faith. He dearly loved his wife, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him well.
David is survived by his two daughters, Laura and Lisa; his three grandchildren, Heather, Ryan and Jalen; and his three great-grandchildren, Liam, Leila and Cooper. David is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Carl, Robert and Daniel), and his wife.
There will be a small graveside service with immediate family only, held on March 21, 2026 at Linn Cemetery
