Davie W Merx passed away on July 10, 2020 at the age of 82 at Oak Pointe Assisted Living with family by his side. Davie was born June 9, 1938 in St. Charles, MO to Roland and Dorothy Merx nee Kohlhepp
Davie was a1956 graduate from Francis Howell in Weldon Spring. Davie and JoAnn Steinert were married on June 13, 1959 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Orrville, MO and they cherished 61 years of marriage. Davie was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Warrenton. He served in the Army National Guard and was stationed in Ft. Riley, KS. He worked in the quarry business for nearly 50 years and was a longtime owner of Missouri Limestone in Warrenton. Davie was instrumental in the founding of Gateway Refrigeration in Warrenton. He was past president of the Warren Co. Fair Board, was on the Warrenton Park Board for 17 years. Davie loved to travel with JoAnn extensively throughout the U.S., Australia, Asia, and Europe. He also enjoyed golf, woodworking and they spent their winters in Naples, FL. Davie will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Davie is survived by his beloved wife JoAnn Merx nee Steinert of Warrenton, MO; two daughters, Katherine (Paul) Barrow of Warrenton, MO, Karen (Kevin) Lancaster of Paris, TN; sister, Judith McClure; brother in law, Donald Howell; 8 grandchildren, Sean (Mandi) Wheeler, Lindsay (Kyle) Smith, Matthew (Alyssa) Wheeler, Paul Barrow, Jr., Susan (Doug) McCabe, Peyton (fiancé Jamie) Lancaster, Nicholas Lancaster, Zachary Lancaster; 4 great-grandchildren Jack and Lucas Smith, August Wheeler, Kenzie McCabe. He is preceded in death by his father, Roland Merx, mother, Dorothy Cassidy, brother, Dennis Hillencamp, sister, Rose Mary Howell, brother-in-law, Ray McClure.
