Dennis Walsh Obituary

Dennis M. Walsh passed away on October 5, 2021 at the age of 71. He was the beloved husband of his wife of 47 years Debbie Walsh of Wentzville, Missouri; He is survived by his wife, son, Tim (Sabrina) Walsh of Troy, MO; daughter, Cheri (Ken) Reese of Wentzville, MO; brother, Kevin (Nancy) Walsh of St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law, Dave Kelsey of Festus, MO; sister, Mary Hamer of Festus, MO; six grandchildren, Christian, Jacob, Kristian, Aair, Amareka, and K.J.; many nieces and nephews. 

Dennis was a 1967 graduate from Fairview High School in Jennings, MO. He then attended Kansas State University on a scholarship after which he transferred to the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri where he received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He then went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 1985. 

Dennis served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1971-1975.  

He coached baseball and soccer from 1983-1993 winning two state championships, one in 1984 and one in 1993, never having a losing season of baseball.  He also was a member of the Surrey Lane Athletic Association of North County in St. Louis, MO. 

In 1988 Dennis became the first Finance Director of the City of Wentzville.  He served as Assistant City Administrator and as interim City Administrator, retiring in 2012.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, and Mizzou fan. He will be dearly missed by many family and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene E. and Shirley A. Caen Walsh, brother, Ed (Peggy) Walsh, sister, Kathy Kelsey.
