Derrick "Man-Man" Brew, Jr. Obituary

Derrick Brew Jr. (affectionately known as Man Man) was born on November 22, 1995 at Christian Northwest Hospital in Florissant, MO to Derrick Brew Sr. and Virginia Brew (White). 

 

Derrick was beloved by many, including his family, friends and social media followers across the country and around the world. He was a bright and magnetic personality who brought joy and laughter everywhere he went.

 

Derrick attended Wentzville Holt High School his freshman year and later transferred to Fort Zumwalt West High School in O’Fallon, MO his sophomore year, where he graduated in 2014. 

 

He was a stellar athlete; participating in football, basketball and track & field. He was an outgoing student, forming deep relationships with faculty and students alike.

 

After a stellar athletic career in high school, he was granted the opportunity to play football at Wartburg College in Iowa. 

 

Derrick was socially and creatively active, with passions for sports, music, dancing, content creation and more.

 

Derrick departed this side while employed as a Consumer Lending Specialist at loanDepot and had aspirations to become a licensed lending officer. His loanDepot team loved his attitude and the professionalism that he brought to his role.

 

On the evening of October 8, 2020 in Irvine, California, Derrick peacefully parted this life. He was 24 years young.

He was a Son, Brother, Grandson, Nephew, Cousin and Friend to many.

Derrick Jr. leaves to cherish his precious memories: His Father and Mother, Derrick Brew Sr. and Virginia Brew (White). Three siblings: Candice Brew, Trenton Brew and Lauren Brew. Grandparents: Lamar Brew Sr. and Graceanna Brew. Aunts: Tracey White (Bernard Hodges Sr), Dr. Charlotte Robinson (Jamell), Diana Brew. Uncles: Lamar Brew Jr (Jeanette), Dorian Brew (Jill), Duane Brew (Miranda), Jamal C. White. First Cousins: Tamar Hodges Esq., Bernard Hodges Jr., Travis Hodges, Marquis Epps, Jamell Collins, Donaven Robinson, Lamar Brew III, Destiny Brew, Calista Brew, Camilla Brew, Anai Brew, Tre’vion Brew, Jaden Brew, Kylee Brew, Terry Ruffin, Faith Ruffin, Khloe White and a host of Great Aunts, Great Uncles, Cousins, Friends and a his Beloved Dog (Maggie).

Derrick Jr. was preceded in death by his Grandfather Charles Henry White and Grandmother Shirley Bishop Norman.

 

Derrick was very protective toward his siblings, and never failed to say “I Love You” or “Thank You”.

 

Through his premature departure, he has taught all of us to live out loud, to be more personable, to seize the day and spread love and light.
