Donald Orf Obituary

Donald Anthony Orf “Cricket”, a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 18, 2025, in Lake St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 87. Born on January 12, 1938, in Dardenne, Missouri, son of Louis and Helen Orf.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Patricia "Pat" Orf nee Brassel, who he was devoted to since their marriage in 1975. He was a loving father to his five children, Donald A. Orf, Alicia (Ray) Teson, Anita Branson, Philip (Amy) Orf, and Todd (Dawn) Jones. He is survived by his brother, Larry "Mac" Orf, and sister, JoAnn Shores, along with his adoring grandchildren, Riamanda Branson, Garret Jones, Ava Jones, and Emmett Jones; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Preceding him in death were his father, Louis "Butch" C. Orf, his mother, Helen C. Orf nee Post, his brothers, Harold "Hank" Orf and Elroy "Shorty" Orf, and his daughter-in-law, Patty Orf.

Donald’s work ethic was exemplified through his 55 years of dedicated service as a member of Local 513 Operator's Union.

A man of many interests, Cricket found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He often enjoyed metal detecting on the beaches of Coco Beach, Florida, where he playfully concealed treasures for his grandchildren to discover. His love for the outdoors extended to mushroom hunting, a pastime he enjoyed immensely, and he was a participant in the Dardenne Baseball League in his younger years. He was also skilled in the art of butchering and making sausage, a tradition he proudly shared with his family.

Donald's 1957 Chevy was more than just a car; it was a symbol of his zest for life and the open road.  An ardent golfer, he relished the opportunity to hit the links with friends and family. His passion for sports was further evidenced by his unwavering support for the St. Louis Cardinals, a team he followed with enthusiasm and loyalty.

Above all, he valued family time. He leaves his family with many happy memories that will be cherished.  He will be missed by numerous family and friends.
