Donald Anderson, Sr. Obituary

Donald Charles Anderson, Sr.,  passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, at the age of 88 in Lake St. Louis, Missouri. Born on October 28, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, son of Woodrow and Lucille (Michel) Anderson.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Mary Jo Anderson (nee Bopp); his four children, Donald  Anderson, Jr., Michael (Tina) Anderson, Vicky (Patrick) Rankin, Mary Jean "Jeanie" (Dennis) Klein; five sisters, Darlene  Daniels, Joyce  Anderson, Gayle  Rakey, Marsha (Craig) King, Sherry  Anderson; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen  Schweitzer; two brother in laws, D. Thomas  Bopp, Dr. Timothy  Bopp; sister in law, Margaret  York; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, numerous friends and extended family. 

Preceding him in death were his father, Woodrow Anderson, mother, Lucille (Michel) Anderson, daughter, Michele Anderson, granddaughter, Raquel Rankin, grandson, Jason Anderson, and brother-in-law, John Schweitzer, Sr.  

Donald's professional life was characterized by his steadfast service to the United Food & Commercial Workers Local 88, where he held the roles of treasurer and vice president. 

He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Wentzville. His faith was a guiding light in his life. 

He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, often sharing stories of his adventures. He loved swing dancing and was evident as an imperial club dancer. 

Donald's passion for animals was evident in his skillful dog training, particularly with his beloved German Shepherds and Beagles. 

His commitment to youth and sports was undeniable as he dedicated countless hours coaching wrestling, football, and softball.  

Donald enjoyed life and will be dearly missed by numerous family and friends. 

Memorials donations may be made to:  Masses preffered, Birthright of Wentzville, or Have Bible Will Travel HBWT.org in honor for Ride for Rocky.
