Dorothy Schmidt (née: Cunningham) of New Melle, Missouri, passed away on July 11, 2026 at the age of 88. She was the beloved wife of the late Lavon Schmidt; She is survived by her son, Larry Schmidt of New Melle, MO; daughter, Tracey (Brent) Schmidt of New Melle, MO; one grandchild, Abby; She is preceded in death by her father, Ray Cunningham, mother, Mary Cunningham (née: Miller) and, sister, Joan Schmidt.  

Dorothy was a faithful member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Throughout her life, she held several jobs she truly enjoyed, working at Dan's Country Store Meats in New Melle, owning and operating T&D Tavern for a time, and later working for Schnucks, where she retired after many years of dedicated service.

Dorothy found great joy in the outdoors. She loved camping, floating on the river, and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She especially enjoyed feeding the birds and watching the wildlife from her front yard, finding peace in the simple beauty of nature. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and nothing brought her greater happiness than celebrating the season surrounded by her family.

Above all, Dorothy treasured her family and friends. She loved spending time with those she held dear, creating countless memories that will be cherished forever. Dorothy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
