Eddie "Ed" Hugh Mathis passed away on August 6, 2025 at the age of 85. Ed worked for 41 years at McDonnell Douglas, which later became Boeing. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 51 years, he lived a life guided by principles of integrity, brotherhood, and service to others. His patriotism was unwavering, and he took great pride in being an American.
He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca (Rick) Butler: three nephews, Eric, Todd, and Christopher Silver; and special friend, Pam Anderson; He is preceded in death by his father, Syl Mathis, mother, Ollie Arizona (Yancy) Mathis, wife, Shirley (Greenwell) Mathis, son, Terry W. Mathis, brother, Jackie Mathis, sister, Betty Sue Silver and her husband Bill.
Ed found joy and peace at the Lake of the Ozarks, where he loved boating, fishing, and spending quality time with those closest to him. Whether with family, friends, or neighbors, he was happiest surrounded by the people he loved.
