It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Nixon on February 20, 2025 at the age of 81, a remarkable woman whose life was filled with passion, adventure, and a commitment to helping others. Liz attended Normandy High School, graduating in 1961 before pursuing her education at Valparaiso University in Indiana, where she began to shape her future in 1965. She furthered her academic journey by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Long Beach State in California. Liz dedicated much of her career to education, serving as a physical education teacher in both Los Angeles and Portland, where she inspired countless students to lead active and healthy lives. She broke barriers early on by becoming the first woman in the United States to establish a private mailbox service. Later, Liz found her true calling as a travel agent. Her dedication and expertise led her to rank in the top 1% to 2% of sales within the travel industry. As the owner of Liz Nixon's World of Cruise and Travel, she created unforgettable experiences for her clients, sharing her love of travel and adventure with everyone she worked with. Liz's vibrant personality, warmth, and zest for life touched all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her brother, Russ (Sharon) Nixon of Wentzville, MO; sister-in-law, Lynn Nixon; many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is preceded in death by her father, Russell Nixon, Sr., mother, Elizabeth Nixon (Kramer), brother, Steve Nixon, great nephew, Ryan Nixon, maternal grandparents, Harry (Amanda) Kramer, second wife, Myrtle Kramer, paternal grandparents, DeeGee (Helen) Nixon.
Family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Pitman Reception Center, 1545 Wentzville Parkway, Wentzville, MO 63385.
