Elsye F. (Burkett) Hendren

Elsye F. Hendren of O'Fallon, MO passed away on September 20, 2022 at the age of 98. She is survived by her daughter, Connie M. (Steve) Hendren-Krejci of O Fallon, MO; brother, Wayne Burkett of Windham, NH; four grandchildren, Andrea (Ryan) Krysiak of North Adams, MA, Marc (Lisa) Krejci of North Bend, WA, Josh (Erin Imus) Krejci of Omaha, NE, Casey (Krissy) Hendren of Austin, TX; four great-grandchildren, Dominic Fendt of Oakley, CA, Aiden Krysiak of North Adams, MA, Drew Kreici of North Bend, WA, Nate Krejci of North Bend, WA. 

Elsye was a domestic engineer, mom, grandma, and great-grandmother.  She did not particularly like to cook, but always could put together a great spread for meals.  She was an artist at heart.  She enjoyed painting, watching Bob Ross, and playing piano.  when she was young she worked at Hallmark as a "touch up artist."  She had different part-time jobs throughout her adult life; she worked at a jewelry store (Flaming Jewels), Boyd's clothing store, Ferguson florist including part-time delivery, and a volunteer at CHNE among others.  She loved taking care of her indoor plants, and enjoyed bowling, golfing, and puzzles.  She could often be found in her rocking chair on the porch.  Elsye was a faithful reader of Bible devotions and the Upper Room.  Most of all, she was a friend to all she met and they often shared their friendship and burdens with her.   

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Paul and Marie Alice (Fort) Burkett, her husband of 66 years, James B. Hendren, sons, Stephen C. Hendren and Michael B. Hendren, siblings, James "Bud" Burkett, Dean Burkett, and Fern Burkett.
