Ernest "Merl" Hagar, 85, of Warrenton, MO passed away on February 16, 2020 peacefully at his home.
Merl was born May 25, 1934 in Corning, AR to Floyd and Martha Hagar nee Perryman.
Merl belonged to the Montgomery City 1st Baptist Church, Merl worked for GM for 28 years after retiring from GM he went to work for City of St. Peters Street Department in 1995. Merl loved to cut wood, gardening and being at home. Merl enjoyed wood carving making owls, old men with long hair and boots. Merl served his country in the United States Army. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Merl is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Lural Hagar nee Isaacs of Warrenton, MO; son, Brent (Carolyn) Hagar of Columbia, MO; daughter, Sherry (Scott) Basler Red Oak, TX; brother, Earl Hagar; sister, Rita Waits of Watertown, TN; grandchildren, Jenny, Justin, Hannah, David, Levi, Jesse; great-grandchildren, Ben, Elijah, Josiah, Bella, Darren, Elena; He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Hagar, mother, Martha Hagar, 2 brothers, Cleo Hagar and Cyril Hagar; 3 sisters, Eva March, Joyce Eddington, and Vida Hurst.
Visitation for Mr. Hagar will be Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 10:00 to 11:00A.M. at Pitman Funeral Home, 904 S. Hwy 47 Warrenton, MO 63383. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00A.M. at Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. Interment with full military honors at Warrenton City Cemetery.
