Floyd H. Cantrell, Jr., of Warrenton, MO, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020 at the age of 75. He was born on October 21, 1944 in St. Louis, Mo, to Floyd and Bernice Cantrell. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth Ann Cantrell (nee Grice) and cherished brother to Saundra “Sonnie” and Shirley.
Floyd is survived by his former wife, best friend and caretaker, Karen Hinkle of Warrenton, their three children; Wayne (Sheila) Cantrell of Troy, Mo, Lisa Elliott of Ironton, Mo, Dana (Tarry) Poindexter of House Springs, Mo, his baby sister Saundra (Henry) Martin of Plant City, FL, one step-son Kevin (Wenning) Courtney of Eureka, Mo. He was the loving grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, and his beloved yorkie “Sophie”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd H. Cantrell Sr. and Berniece L. Cantrell (nee Risner), older sister, Shirley Williams and one step-son, Thomas Courtney and great grandson, Caleb Bramlett.
Floyd graduated from Riverview High School then began working for The Boeing Aircraft Company from 1963-1998. After retirement, he started his woodworking business making beautiful hand-crafted furniture. In 2012, he found a love for photography and began traveling throughout the US with his photography class friends at Creve Coeur Camera in Saint Louis. His most treasured trip he would tell about, was his 2015 safari in Kenya, Africa. As traveling became impossible due to his declining health, he would spend most days shopping on Amazon, watching homesteading and sailing families on YouTube and looking up new recipes to try. Floyd will be remembered for his many talents and his friendly spirit. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
Visitation will be at Pitman Funeral Home in Warrenton, Mo. on Wednesday, July 8th, 2020, 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and a Memorial service will immediately follow.
