Frances Maddox Obituary

Frances Lenore Maddox (nee Hunsicker) peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday January 8, 2022, at the age of 92.

Born on July 26, 1929, in Hardin County Ohio, Frances was the 5th child born to the late Harvey and Ruth Hunsicker (nee Crist).

Frances graduated from McGuffey High School in McGuffey, Ohio in 1947.  Early in 1949 Frances enlisted in the newly formed separate USAF to become one of the early "WAF", Women in Air Force.  After her military service she went on to work in civil service and eventually Douglas Aircraft in California.  Circumstances brought Frances to St. Louis where she pursued a career with McDonnell Douglas Corporation and retired in 1994.  While working full-time, Frances obtained her realtors license along with her husband Ed, they enjoyed selling and listing homes throughout the St. Louis area for many years.  Frances was a proud 40-year member of First Christian Church of Florissant.

Frances loved Jesus with all of her heart as she did her family.  She was happiest when with her family, attending church services, reading The Bible, sewing, gardening, playing cards and talking politics to anyone who would listen.  Her family will greatly miss her strength, her love, her generosity, her spunk and the ability to talk with her for hours at a time.

She is preceded in death by her husband Edward A. Maddox whom she married in September 1969.  Also preceded in death by 5 brothers; Russell Hunsicker, Raymond Hunsicker, Harvey Hunsicker Jr., Samuel Hunsicker, Kenneth Hunsicker; 3 sisters: Alice Scott (nee Hunsicker), Erma "Jean" Kratt (nee Hunsicker) and Cheryl Howard (nee Hunsicker).

Frances is survived by and the loving Mother of Stephen Simmons, David (Wilhelmena) Simmons, Tamara Sheffler (nee Simmons), Tara (Richard) Ruiz (nee Maddox) and step mother to Kathy Garcia (nee Maddox).  Beloved Grandmother to Nicole, Phillip, Dane, Daniel, Samantha, Sarah (Adam), David, Emily, Penny, Erica, Kyle and Brian.  Adored Great Grandmother to Savannah, Jackson, Paxton, Henry, Alexander and Benjamin.  Frances is also survived by brothers Lewis Hunsicker, Darrell Hunsicker and sister Marsha (Robert) Neff (nee Hunsicker).
