Gerald Carter Obituary

Gerald A. Carter passed away on January 24, 2024 at the age of 85. Gerald was born February 25, 1938, son of the late Chester C. Carter and Edith M. (Woodward) Carter.  He spent his childhood in Centralia, MO and later attended college at Missouri State Teacher's College (Truman State University), where he earned both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees.  He was a teacher at Wentzville High School (Holt High School) for 30 years (1959-1989) where he taught PE and Business and was the first football coach at Wentzville High School. After retiring from his teaching career he went on to co-owner of Tax and Accounting Services in Wentzville. Gerald loved his family dearly and enjoyed the large family gatherings.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

He is survived by his three daughters, Debra McCollum of O'Fallon, MO, Edith (Dan) Smith of Wentzville, MO, Julie Carter of Wentzville, MO; two brothers, John (Georgia) Carter of Washington, MO, Robert (Phyllis) Carter of St. Peters, MO; sister, Pauline (Rick) Kuntz of Jefferson City, MO; sister-in-law, Sharon Carter-Smith of Wentzville, MO; six grandchildren, Ryan McCollum, Danielle (Mark) Ginn, Brandy (Jamey) Cusumano, Lydia (Tim) Birchfield, Christopher (Elli) McCollum, Blake Bakker; 9 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his father, Chester C. Carter, mother, Edith M. (Woodward) Carter, wife, Margaret Ann (Dickey) Carter, brother, Kenneth Carter, sisters, Jacqueline Smith and Kathleen Smith.
