Herbert Bracht, Jr. passed away at his home on April 21, 2021 at the age of 85. Herb was born December 27, 1935 in Hawk Point, MO to the late Herbert and Willena Howdescell Bracht,Sr.
Herb and Mary were united in marriage on February 27, 1965 and celebrated 56 years of marriage. Herb graduated from Truman State with a teaching degree and came to Warrenton to teach history and became very involved with the school where he eventually taught drivers education and physical education. He coached junior high sports and was always very proud of his teams. Herb later became an elementary principal and then Director of Elementary. After 17 years he retired from the school and later served on the school board for 12 years.
Herb was not one to sit around he purchased the Western Auto store in Warrenton and successfully ran it for 25 years. After his business adventure he became an avid Cardinal fan. He often could be heard disagreeing with the ump on a called strike or ball. Herb coached many Khoury League teams during the 1970s and 1980s. His three kids all played school sports and he attended many football and basketball games as well as track meets. Herbs latest adventure was the purchase of a small farm where he had a cow calf operation and row crops of beans and corn. Farming was his first love and he worked his whole life so he could have a small operation. After many health issues the last few years he never gave in or gave up. He still enjoyed driving to the farm and seeing his cattle and growing crops. Herb was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Herb is survived by his beloved wife Mary Bracht nee Daily of Warrenton, MO. two sons, Terence (Carol) Bracht of Warrenton, MO, Travis (Kelly) Bracht of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Paula (Jon Ruggiero) Bracht of Jonesburg, MO; two brothers, Donald (Anita) Bracht of Tipton, MO, Ronald (Cindy) Bracht of Mexico, MO; two sisters, Marie (John) Spires of Hermann, MO, Debra Raines of Columbia, MO; brother in law, James Glenn of Alexandria, VA; granddaughter, Abigail Bracht; grandson, Trent Bracht; He is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Bracht, Sr., mother, Willena Bracht, step-mother Evelyn Bracht, sister, Angelina Bracht-Glenn, brother in law, Carroll Raines.
