Jane Martin Obituary

With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Jane Frances Martin on March 24, 2024. Jane is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Raymond H. Feldt and Mary Alice Feldt (nee Ryan) and her granddaughter, baby Stella Johnston.

Jane is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Jeffrey Martin, her children Lauren Mueller, Matthew Mueller, Brandon (Lea) Martin, Ashley (Charles) Graves, her in-laws Carl (Dana) Martin, her grandchildren Madison, Dayton, Audrina, Ryder, Gwendolyn, her sisters Susan (Anthony) Pouyer, Patricia (Marvin) Haselhorst, Christine (Shannon) Branstetter, and her aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A dedicated nurse, Jane devoted her professional life to caring for the elderly. She embraced this as her calling when she was in high school and pursued it for more than 40 years with passion and commitment. She was a Registered Nurse with a Master’s Degree in Nursing and she graduated from BarnesJewish College of Nursing and Allied Health. Jane’s approach to nursing was characterized by her deep medical knowledge and commitment to precision and scientific rigor, as well as her compassionate and generous heart.

Most recently, Jane worked as a Regional Director of Business Development and a Clinical Liaison for a group of nursing homes. Although her job did not require her to care for nursing home residents, Jane never failed to respond when someone needed help or was in distress. She nurtured personal bonds with residents and their families, always looking out for “my old people,” as she lovingly referred to those who came under her care.

Jane’s loved ones also relied on her as a medical professional, caretaker and advocate, as her family and friends turned to her in the face of many health and personal crises. She correctly diagnosed many health problems and generously shared her expertise and her love. Jane guided the care of her elderly father for many years with a brilliant, sharp mind and unwavering strength and devotion.

Jane cherished spending time with the people she loved, especially her children and grandchildren. She treasured her lake home, calling it her “happy place” where she generously welcomed her family and friends on special trips. Jane loved boating, floating in the lake, drinking coffee, shopping and sitting on her porch enjoying the water. Her bright spirit, quick wit and kind and happy heart touched the lives of so many. In honoring Jane’s memory, may we find comfort in the cherished moments we shared with her. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association (ALA.org) in honor of Jane’s memory.
