James "Jimmy" J. Wilmes of Josephville, Missouri, passed away on April 3, 2026 at the age of 90. He was the beloved husband of his late wife, Patricia Wilmes (née: Dickherber); He is survived by his six children, Cindy (Jim) Knaust of Josephville, MO, Gregg (Janet) Wilmes of Josephville, MO, Pam (Ron) Riggleman of Josephville, MO, David (Mary) Wilmes of O' Fallon, MO, Missy (Craig) Schwerdt of Josephville, MO, and Jamie (Jen) Wilmes of Flint Hill, MO; twenty four, grandchildren; thirty four, great grandchildren; one, great-great grandchild; six brothers, Harry Wilmes of Josephville, MO, Jerry (Paulette) Wilmes of Josephville, MO, Ray (Rita) Wilmes of Dardenne, MO, Don (JoAnn) Wilmes of Josephville, MO, Les (Kathy) Wilmes of Wright City, MO; Earl (Barb) Wilmes of KY; two sisters, Janet Giesman of Wentzville, MO, and Lucille Hepperman of Josephville, MO; He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Wilmes, mother, Clara Wilmes (née Albers).
Jimmy was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Patricia on April 4, 1959, and together they shared 66 cherished years before her passing in 2025. From this loving union, they were blessed with six children: Cindy, Gregg, Pam, David, Missy, and Jamie.
Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Jimmy had a love for the outdoors and could often be found up at his farm brush hogging or mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed trout fishing, and hunting with his son's, and grandchildren. He celebrated his birthday with a hayride every year at his farm. Jimmy and Patsy also loved traveling, and visited the Holy land, and Ireland. They also enjoyed vacationing to Mexico, the Caribbean and went on many cruises. But mostly loved their family vacations. He was also a passionate baseball player, and rarely missed watching a Cardinal game. He played in the Hard Road League for over 20 years for Josephville, forming lasting friendships and memories along the way. In recognition of his talent, and dedication, he was inducted into the St. Charles County Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992.
Jimmy was co-owner of Wentzville Drywall, and was a life time member of the Painters Union.
Jimmy was a life long member of St. Josephs Parish in Josephville. A man of strong faith and commitment, he served as a Captain of the White House Retreat for more than 40 years, never missing a single year for 64 years.
Above all, Jimmy was a very religious, and family orientated man. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
