John "Poncho" Henry Pund Jr.

John H. “Poncho” Pund, Jr. of Dardenne Prairie, MO passed away Wednesday, March 8th, 2023 at the age of 86 years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen (Prouhet) Pund.  His children, Mary Beth (Gary) Hull, Chris (Madonna) Pund, Maria (Wesley) Woods, and Theresa Pund.  Seven grandchildren, Amanda (Will) McDowell, Rebecca (Mike) Maher, Kyle (Liz) Hull, Jonathan (Anna) Pund, Evan Hull, Connor Woods, and Caleb Woods.  Three great-grandchildren, Isaac McDowell, Xavier and Thomas Pund, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Poncho was born on January 15, 1937 to John F. and Laura E. (Wiechens) Pund.  He attended Assumption grade school and graduated in 1955 from Assumption High School in O’Fallon, MO.

He began his career as a Journeyman Plumber at the age of 19, and retired in 1999.  He has been a member of Local 562 Plumbers & Pipefitters for over 65 years.  Over the years he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and assisted with many Immaculate Conception, Dardenne, MO parish functions.  In his free time, Poncho enjoyed hunting and fishing, but was especially proud of his garden, sharing his bounty with others.

Poncho was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Mae, Leroy, Kenneth, Eileen, Rosalie, Betty, Lawrence, and Janet.  His daughter, Linda, and a great-granddaughter, Chiara Grace Katharine Pund.

Above all, Poncho, along with Helen, raised their family with a deep faith to love and care for others, and led by example.  He will be dearly missed.
