Joseph Snyder Obituary

Joseph Anthony Snyder of Wentzville, MO passed away on December 28, 2025, at the age of 79. Joseph was born July 15, 1946, son of Chester and Agnes Snyder.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Diana Lyn Snyder (née: Tiggemann); his children, Kari Spearman of Wentzville, MO, Kelli (Chad) Grasse of Sheboygan, WI, Mike Snyder of Kansas City, KS; sister-in-law, Mary Quinn; eight grandchildren, Jon (Kallie), Alyssa, and DJ Spearman, Brandon and Logan Grasse, Owen, Noah, and Emma Snyder;  one great-grandchild, Skylar Spearman. He is also survived by his nieces, friends, and many cherished members of his church family. He is preceded in death by his father, Chester Lambert Snyder, mother, Agnes Elizabeth Snyder (née: Steinhoff), brother, William Snyder, his father and mother-in-law, Burtis and Veronica Tiggemann, and brother-in-law, Bruce Tiggemann.

Joe spent 32 years as an air traffic controller at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. He continued working in the aviation field as a systems engineer, sharing his air traffic expertise with the Terminal Planning Investment Analysis Team until his retirement in 2017. Throughout his career, he gave much of himself by serving on multiple committees, leading the children’s Christmas fund, and mentoring new controllers.

His faith was a very important part of his life, and he served in his church in many roles, including elder, usher, choir member, altar guild, and serving on call committees, coordinating the church kitchen, and assisting with the Celebration of Lights.

He enjoyed the outdoors-feeding the birds daily, gardening, and spending time at the Missouri Botanical Garden. He also had a love of trains and enjoyed following the Union Pacific Big Boy steam locomotive, traveling in hopes of catching a glimpse of it.

Most of all, he treasured time with his family and loved traveling to cheer on his grandchildren, watching them participate in sports and celebrating their accomplishments.
