Obituary

Joshua Seibert Jackson Devenport passed away on March 24, 2021 at the age of 88. Josh was born September 9, 1932 in Bessville, MO to Seibert and Maude Devenport nee Rhodes. 

Josh began raising his family in St. Louis, MO. He began working on the Corvette line at General Motors in 1954. He then moved his family to Jonesburg in 1972, while continuing to work at GM in Wentzville. Josh retired from General Motors in 1992 after 30 1/2 years and began the second phase of his life. Upon retirement he enjoyed tending his cattle, gardening, going to auctions with his wife Mae, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson.  Josh loved the St. Louis Cardinals and watching Western movies especially Gunsmoke and John Wayne. He was a founding member of the Jonesburg Optimist Club He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his two sons, Curtis (Ruthann) Devenport of Jonesburg, MO, Roger (Lisa) Devenport of Jonesburg, MO; two granddaughters, Danielle (Frank Bush) Devenport, Sara Devenport; grandson, Nathan Devenport; great-grandson, Frankie  Bush;, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Seibert Devenport, mother, Maude Devenport, wife, Mae Dean Devenport, sister, Pat Upchurch, sister, Faye Upchurch.
