Joyce Noxon Obituary

Joyce Marlene (Praechter) Noxon, age 90 left this Earth on January 1, 2022 in Lake St. Louis, MO and may her gentle soul live in light and peace. She was born on January 27, 1931 in St. Louis, MO to Fredrick A. Praechter and Dorothy Praechter nee Schuttner.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, E. Warner Noxon, Jr., in 1986 and her beloved brother Fred Praechter. She is survived by her three sons: Mark and wife Harriett (Atlanta, GA), Scott (Pittsburgh, PA), and Kirk and wife, Anna (Silex, MO); 6 grandchildren: Tara, Crystal, Nikki, Kelsey, JW & Joey; and 1 great-grandchild.

Joyce attended the University of Missouri and Washington University, where she graduated with a B.S. in Arts and Architecture, and she met her future husband. Upon graduation, Joyce taught art to elementary and Junior High students for few years until she wed Mr. Elmer Warner Noxon, Jr. on August 18, 1955 in St. Louis, MO.

She was a sweet and devoted wife, mother & grandmother always there for her family from Boy Scouts to Sunday School classes. Joyce decorated every home with zeal for each holiday, from Belleville, IL to Riverdale, IA to Benton, AR and Pittsburgh, PA. After her husband retired, they moved close to their roots, Lake St. Louis, MO.

An avid artist, she enjoyed painting at home, assisted in designing her own house and also assisted in designing, along with donating, towards many parks in the Lake St. Louis area.  She also donated for the Lake St. Louis Police department’s new station, including upgraded equipment. Her hobbies included politics, Women of Wealth, Sister Cites, Pontooneers of LSL, assisting with multiple scholarships for college bound students, and many other philanthropic endeavors.

Joyce will be greatly missed by her family friends and neighbors. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Wounded Warrior Project or Washington University School of Medicine. As Joyce is always looking to help others, her body has been donated to the Washington University School of Medicine. Cards can be mailed to 422 Norton Road, Silex, MO 63377.
