Karen Sue Aldrich passed away on February 18, 2025, in Wentzville, MO, after a rich and fulfilling life. Born in Carrollton, IL, on February 2, 1948, Karen's infectious laughter and generous spirit touched the lives of many throughout her 77 years.
Karen grew up in the close-knit community of Carrollton, where she graduated from Carrollton High School in 1966. A long-standing member of the First Baptist Church of O'Fallon, MO, Karen's great faith in God was the cornerstone of her existence.
Her zest for life was evident in her passion for the St. Louis Cardinals, whose games she followed with fervor. Karen's skills in the kitchen were legendary; she was a talented cook and baker. She was known for her cookies and candy. A practical joker at heart, she could always be counted on to bring laughter to any gathering.
She is survived by her adoring children, Eric (Charlie) Aldrich and April (Matt) Murphy; her cherished grandchildren, Allie and Rylee Aldrich, and Morgan, Brendan, and Dylan Murphy, all of whom she supported wholeheartedly, reveling in their accomplishments at sporting events, dance recitals, and horse shows.
Karen also leaves behind her loving siblings, Larry (Diane) Gourley, Gene (Jeannette) Gourley, and Connie (Vince) Gamba; sister-in-law, Candie Gourley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her warmth and kindness. She was preceded in death by her father, Chester Gourley, mother, Doris (Fundel) Gourley, twin children, Paul and Paula Aldrich, and brother, Jim Gourley.
As we say goodbye to Karen, we are reminded of the joy she brought to our lives and the laughter that echoed in the rooms she graced.
Do not fear the road ahead, for God walks with you; his hand will guide you, his grace will sustain you through every trial.
