Karen Ann (Huber) Ballmann

Karen Ann Ballmann, age 64, from O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. It would be wrong to say that Karen lost her battle because she never stopped fighting, she was always determined. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight.

She was born August 9, 1957 in Hillsboro, Illinois to William & Mary Ann (Miller) Huber. She married the love of her life, Mike Ballmann, in November of 1976 who preceded her in death in 2021.

Karen was born a farmer’s daughter and enjoyed her early childhood in several small farm towns throughout Illinois. At age 13 her family moved to O’Fallon, Missouri where she attended high school at St. Mary’s Academy. She would meet her most loyal friends there most of whom stayed close with her throughout her life. She continued her education at St. Mary’s College where she graduated with an Education Degree. She taught school at St. Paul Catholic School for a short time but decided a full time mom is what she truly desired.

Karen was a dedicated and loving homemaker to her husband, Mike during their 44 years of marriage and a devoted mother to Jim & Chris, first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma to Michael. She was a devout Catholic and an incredibly talented seamstress.

She is the loving mother of James Ballmann of Oregon, Wisconsin and Chris Ballmann of O’Fallon and adored Grandmother of Michael Ballmann. Daughter of Mary Ann Miller Huber and the late William Huber. Dear sister of Kevin Huber (Kate), Kathy Huber Blattel (Tim) & Kim Huber Bauer (Dan). Loved Sister-n-law to Dale & Patty Ballmann, Danny & Marilyn Ballmann and Mark & Lynn Ballmann. Also lovingly survived by the many nieces, nephews and Godchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mike. All of these, she loved and touched deeply.
