Karen Lynn Beinhorn passed away peacefully at her home in Wentzville, Missouri, on May 12, 2026, at the age of 69.

Karen was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 30, 1956. On October 4, 1997, she married the love of her life, Arthur “Butch” Beinhorn. Together, they became affectionately known as the “Honey Badgers.”

Family was Karen’s world, and she loved fiercely. She had a look that let you know when you were in trouble, but it always came from a place of love. She was known for her thoughtful nature, fun sense of humor, and willingness to try anything new. Karen enjoyed camping, boat rides, eagle watching, and spending time outdoors. She worked in home décor at Lowe’s, a job she truly enjoyed, and later worked as noon duty at Peine Ridge Elementary, where she touched the lives of many children. One of her favorite sayings was, “Good place for it,” a phrase her family will always remember with a smile.

Above all, Karen adored her grandbabies and treasured every moment spent with them. She loved hard and cared deeply for the people in her life. If too much time had passed without hearing from someone, she would often say, “If you lost my address or phone number, I can give it to you but call me back!”—a reminder of how much staying connected meant to her.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Arthur “Butch” Beinhorn; her children, Jason (Julie) House, Stephanie (Phoenix) Vellichor, Kurt (Kayla) House, and Troy Gill; Michael House, the father of Jason and Kurt; and her cherished grandchildren, Lana Herkenhoff, Carter Shanks, Dylan House, Kyrah Shanks, Amy Minster, David Minster, Olivia Minster, Kynlee House, and Klayton House; and many other beloved friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse McWhorter; her mother, Florence Lepp (Nee: Burger); her daughter, Deanne Shanks; her son, Jacob Beinhorn; and her sister, Penneye Buesking.

Karen’s humor and laughter will be deeply missed and will forever remain in our hearts.
