Larry Janish Obituary

Larry Janish of Warrenton, Missouri, passed away on February 7, 2025 at the age of 75. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Janish (nee: Rosenberger) of Warrenton, Missouri; He is survived by his father, Robert "Bob" Janish of Wright City, MO; daughter, Tera (Michael) Hockaday of St. Peters, MO; step-daughter, Samantha (Matt) Shelton of Warrenton, MO; step-son , Nicholas (Abbey) Shelton of Troy, MO; grandchildren, Trent, Cody, Alex, Hunter, Hayden, and Brooks; four sisters, Sally (Doug) Hoener and family of O' Fallon, MO, Peggy (Jack) Mannebach and family of Chesterfield, MO, Connie (Michael) Hays and family of Wentzville, MO, Jean (Jeff) Braden and family of Lake St. Louis, MO; one brother, Timothy Janish and family of St. Charles, MO. Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Jeannette Janish (nee: Lottman).

Larry dedicated four years of his life to the United States Army 4th Infantry, proudly serving as a Ranger during the Vietnam War. His military service shaped his character and instilled a deep sense of duty and commitment to his community. After his service, Larry became a familiar face in Wright City, where he worked as the Public Works Superintendent for over 20 years with the City of Wright City. He was known not only for his hard work and dedication but also for the kindness and integrity he showed towards everyone he encountered. Larry had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed bear hunting in Minnesota, as well as deer and coon hunting. Fishing and traveling were among his favorite pastimes, providing him with countless cherished memories. An avid fan of John Deere tractors, he often delighted in working and attending auctions to seek out new treasures. In addition to his professional and recreational endeavors, Larry was a dedicated volunteer firefighter for the Wright City Fire Department, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Larry was a International Exchange Coordinator for 20 plus students and supervised over a 1,000. However, above all else, Larry cherished his family. He took great joy in spending time with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness. Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
