Laverne Bloemer, lovingly known as “Sis,” passed away peacefully at the age of 93. She lived a life defined by open doors, shared tables, and the belief that life was meant to be experienced together.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold (Sonny) Bloemer; her parents, John and Elizabeth Heuer (née Clark); and her siblings John Heuer, Elizabeth Mann, Bernice Noel, and James Heuer. She is survived by her brothers George and Joseph Heuer, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Family was at the center of Laverne’s life. Her home was always open, her table always full, and everyone was welcome, whether for a holiday gathering or an extended stay.
She found great joy in the outdoors, especially tending to her rose garden and watching hummingbirds, including one she named Oliver, whom she believed returned to visit her year after year!
An adventurer at heart, Sis and Sonny traveled the country in their Winnebago, turning every trip into a shared journey. There was always room for one more, and every destination was better with company.
A devoted Catholic and longtime Catholic school teacher, Laverne lived her faith through kindness, patience, and grace. She embraced life as it came, with warmth, acceptance and her constant reminder *c’est la vie* finding beauty in whatever came her way.
Laverne will be remembered for her generous spirit, her love of family and adventure, and the way she made space - for people, for laughter, and for life itself.
