Lela Mae (Aldrich) Hill

July 19, 1930 ~ April 25, 2020 (age 89)

Obituary

Lela Mae Hill went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at the age of 89.  She passed away peacefully after a long battle with Vascular Dementia.

Mae was born July 19, 1930 in Patterson, MO to Willard and Alice Aldrich nee Faulkner. She is preceded in death by both parents, an infant brother, Edwin Aldrich and her loving  husband of 30 years, Willis H. Hill.

She is survived by her children:  Patricia (Dave) Hagan, St Charles, MO; Bill (Denise) Hill, Rome, GA; and Nancy (Brian) Ulsh, Morganville, NJ; 7 grandchildren: Shawn Smith, Michelle Smith, Heather (Matt) McClain, Dinah Hagan, Travis Hill, Mary Ulsh & Megan Ulsh; 4 great-grandchildren: Kameron Purser, Braden Smith, Briella Smith & Annalise McClain; sister Terry (Larry) Holloway, St Louis, MO; aunt Virgie Hicks, Piedmont, MO; nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was a homemaker for her husband and 3 children.  They raised horses, bird dogs, ornamental chickens, and a variety of game birds.  As an animal lover, she always had a dog, cat or bird as a companion later in life.

She was an impressive marksman (of which she was very proud), a lifelong St Louis Cardinals fan, avid bowler, and an active member of the Elks Lodge in Warrenton, MO.  After moving to Leesburg, FL, she became an enthusiastic member of AmVets and supported Veterans groups.

Her love of flowers and gardening could be seen everywhere she lived in MO, FL and even Cedar Hill Senior Living in GA. She was active in each community she called home and remained physically fit into her 89th year, winning a walking competition at Cedar Hill last year.

Mae loved her family, many friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A private graveside service will be held in Wentzville, MO at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
