Leona "Petie" Marie Niederer passed away on August 23, 2021 at the age of 92. She is survived by her two sons, John A. (Monica) Niederer of Wentzville, MO and Ron J. (Denise) Niederer of New Florence, MO; five daughters, Mary Catherine (Leon) Tow of Wentzville, MO, Judy Ann (Reggie) Hemmer of Wentzville, MO, Rita L. (Danny) Martin of Troy, MO, Bonnie S. (George) Mutert of Keytesville, MO, Karen J. (Wil) Smith of Wentzville, MO; two brothers, Paul (Dot) Schulte of St. Paul, MO, Lenny (Marie) Schulte of St. Paul, MO; sister, Mary Lou Mitchell of Springfield, MO, sister-in-law, Ann Schulte of O'Fallon, MO; 24 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
Leona "Petie" was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church in Flint Hill since 1947 where she was also a member of Ladies Sodality and Quilting. She participated in Holy Hours in Flint Hill and St. Paul. She taught quilting at St. Theodore Catholic School and helped at the Flint Hill dinners. She enjoyed gardening, Cardinal Baseball, cutting the grass on her riding lawnmower, listening to music, and she was a great seamstress who had a talent for making clothing. Most of all, she loved her family and was there to take care of anyone that needed her help. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward F. and Cora Chappuis Schulte, husband, R. Kenneth Niederer, brothers, Kenneth Schulte, Robert Schulte, Gene Schulte, Jim Schulte, Richard Schulte, sisters, Ruth Mense and Helen Heppermann.
