Madeline Aumann Obituary

Madeline “Maddie” Grace Aumann

May 11, 2008 - October 7, 2025

Madeline Grace Aumann, 17, of Wentzville, Missouri, went home to be with Jesus on October 7, 2025, held in the arms of her loving family.

To know Maddie was to love Maddie. From the day she was born, Maddie’s life was a miracle, a story of courage, grace, and unshakable faith. Though her body faced unimaginable challenges from a rare SCN9A channelopathy, her smile and spirit shone with a light that could not be dimmed. Maddie’s joy, laughter, and kindness touched everyone who knew her. She had a gift for seeing beauty in small things.

Maddie loved deeply and freely. She loved music, art, cartwheels, her puppies Chloe and Angel, and sweet treats, her favorite’s chocolate cupcakes and brownies! But most of all, she loved her family, especially her sister, Grace, her forever best friend and closest companion. Together they shared laughter, stories, and dreams that will live on forever in their hearts.

Maddie’s faith was simple and pure. She knew Jesus was always with her, in the hospital rooms, in the quiet nights, and in the moments when she reached out to comfort others instead of herself.

Though her body was fragile, her spirit was unbreakable. She endured countless hospital stays and procedures with bravery that amazed all. Her faith never wavered, even in the hardest moments. Maddie’s story helped change how medical providers and researchers understand her disease and will continue to help all those that come after her. Though her time on earth was far too short, her impact was immeasurable. Maddie’s courage inspired her medical providers, her family, her teachers, her friends, and countless others who followed her journey, showing that every life holds divine purpose.

She is survived by her parents, Jeffery and Christine (nee: Smith) Aumann of Wentzville, MO; sister, Grace Aumann of Wentzville, MO; grandparents, Herman and Patricia Smith Jr. of Wentzville, MO, and Alois Aumann of Festus, MO; aunts and uncles, Jim and Trish Aumann, Scott and Julia Smith; cousins, Will, Sean, Reed, Lily, River, and Lake; godmother, Amy Herbert; and many other great aunts, uncles, and cousins who all loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Madeline and Herman Smith Sr. and Cecelia Heffernan; grandmother, Edna Aumann; and aunt, Melissa Burnette.

Maddie is now whole and healed dancing in heaven’s light, free from pain, wrapped in the arms of Jesus. Her love remains with us, and her light will never fade.

“Well done, my good and faithful servant.” - Matthew 25:23
