Marcella Koebel (nee Everding) passed away peacefully at the blessed age of 100 at her home in Wentzville, Missouri, on February 24, 2025, with both her son and daughter at her bedside. She was born December 7, 1924, in Red Bud, Illinois, to the late Arthur Everding, Sr. and Caroline Everding (nee Hameister). She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel Robert Koebel. They were married 52 years.
Marcella was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She adored her family and cherished every moment with them. She is survived by her son, Stanley Robert Koebel, and her daughter, Joann Carol Massmann (Wendell); and her grandson, Bryan Theodore Massmann (Megan) and her beloved great-grandchildren, Bryce Theodore (6) and Lydia Marie (3) Massmann; sister-in-law Shirley Everding, and many nieces and nephews, especially her beloved niece Ruthie Runge (Bob).
Marcella possessed a kind and gentle manner, yet she was a fierce advocate for her children. She was a meticulous housewife and a phenomenal cook, known especially for her coconut cream pies. She made every birthday and holiday a special event. She took great pride in her table settings and entertaining. She loved working with flowers and took great delight in her beautiful rose garden. She was a gentle soul who loved nature and cared deeply for the birds in her backyard. She taught herself to quilt, crochet, and knit, and became quite skilled with all three. Marcella was also a woman of faith and a devoted reader of her Bible and church literature. A member of the Philadelphia Church of God, she was a good steward and devout, a beautiful example to her family of a true Christian spirit.
Marcella is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Daniel R. Koebel, and her three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Melvin Everding (Fern), Clarence Everding (Linda), and Arthur Everding, Jr., plus other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Immanuel Lutheran School, Wentzville. It is the school at which her daughter Joann Massmann taught for many years and that Marcella’s grandson attended and great-grandchildren currently attend.
Family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville
