Marilyn "Lynn" Schuberth Obituary

Sadly, yet with deep gratitude for a life lived beautifully, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Marilyn “Lynn” Schuberth, on March 17, 2026, at the age of 89. She was, simply put, the best. She never met a stranger, only friends she had not yet made. What truly defined her was her kindness and the pure, generous love she gave so freely. Her home and her heart were always open, welcoming everyone with warmth and a genuine sense of belonging. This was apparent by her love of conversations at the dinner table, shared laughter, and the importance of creating family traditions.

She had a rare gift for listening, making others feel truly seen and valued. She was a constant cheerleader for those she loved, meeting each situation with grace, positivity, and encouragement. She also had an amazing sense of humor; quick, sharp, and delivered with the perfect twinkle in her eye.

Mama was an accomplished woman with a wide range of interests. A lifelong student of the world, there was hardly a subject on which she didn’t have an informed opinion. Her passion for the arts extended to her own creative talents, especially her gift as a painter.

Her joy was contagious, her laughter a comfort, her smile brightened the darkest room, and her deep faith was a steadfast light that guided her through life and inspired all who knew her. She lived her faith in action, dedicating herself to helping those without the same access or advantages.

She shared 72 of her 89 years with the love of her life, Tom Schuberth. Together they raised six children, opened and ran restaurants, and traveled the world. They created a large, close extended family whose love and connection remain one of their greatest gifts to their children and grandchildren.

Mama was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 4, 1936, to James and Margaret Doyle (Peterson). She was the second eldest of seven siblings and is survived by her three younger sisters: Peg (Jack) Donahue, Bernie (Bob) Kennealy, and MaryAnne (Dave) O’Callaghan. She was preceded in death by her siblings Carol (Hank) Schuberth, Jim (Shirley) Doyle, and Larry Doyle.

She was surrounded by her family at the end, her loving and dedicated husband of almost 68 years, Tom Schuberth. She is survived by her daughters Therese (Dave) Hubble, Anne (Bruce) Keller, Joan (Tim) McDonald, Lynn Schuberth, and Cathy Schuberth; adopted daughter Mary Pham; grandchildren Ryan Keller, Christopher (Amy) Hubble, Corey (Kirstie) Hubble; and stepgrandchildren Katie (Betsy) Staley, Michelle (Austin) Adamson, Sabrina and Dylan Kay, Alla and Raya Altschul; as well as step-great-grandchildren Kara and Judah Adamson and William Staley. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her only son, Tommy Schuberth, with whom she now is joyously reunited.
