Martha Ann Almeling passed away on November 30, 2020 at the age of 89. She is survived by her son, Tim (Dianne) Almeling of Wentzville, MO; three grandchildren, Brent (Jaime) Almeling, Kyle (Vanessa) Almeling, Leah (Greg Nissing) Almeling, five great-grandchildren, Hailee, Mason, Ashlyn, Waylon and Weston; She is preceded in death by her husband, William Almeling, parents, Joseph and Anna Mispagel nee Henke, brother Urban Mispagel, three sisters, Myrtle Schramm, Ruth Zakrzewski, and Viola Boland.
Martha went by many names. Of course, there was Mom, Grandma and G-Ma. But if you knew Martha as Marty, you were from New Melle. If she was Amm, you were a Misapagel. And if you called her Aunt Mart, you were an Almeling. She answered to all them and loved calls or visits from her whole extended family.
Martha’s husband Bill was the love of her life. When they weren’t working together at the butcher shop in New Melle, they loved to dance and play cards. She also enjoyed bowling and a good game of bingo. She had great taste and a penchant for collecting rooster figurines. The latest estimate was 82 roosters decorating her home!
Martha loved her grandkids, especially taking them to the Lake of the Ozarks and cooking up their favorites: bread pudding, tapioca and grilled cheese.
Tim, as her only son, was Martha’s star caregiver. He was a regular at Delmar Gardens, Martha’s home for the last two and a half years, and all the ladies enjoyed a good laugh with Martha and Tim.
In her later years, her biggest smiles came from her beloved chihuahua, Ozzie, or a hug from her great grandkids.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
