Martha Houska

Martha Ann Houska, 59, of Foristell, Missouri, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020, at DePaul Hospital, Bridgeton, Missouri.

 The daughter of John Howard, Jr. and Mary Margaret (Cleland) Watson, she was born March 31, 1960 in Red Bud, Illinois.

On November 2, 1991, in St. Louis, Missouri, she married Ronald Houska, who survives her.

  Also surviving her are: three daughters, Dawn Houska-Canaday and her husband, Daniel of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Alyssa Houska of St. Charles, Missouri, and Maggie Houska of Foristell, Missouri; two grandchildren, Aston Louis Canaday and Eden Rose Canaday; her father, John Howard Watson, Jr. of Chester, Illinois; one sister, Mary Ellen Bollmann and her husband, Mark of Kremmling, Colorado; and one brother, John C. Watson and his wife, Marianne of Coulterville, Illinois.  Preceded in death by her mother and brother, William (Bill) Howard Watson.

 Mrs. Houska grew up in Sparta, Illinois. Along with her husband, she was owner and operator of Houska, Inc., a landscaping business where she helped managed all day to day operations.  She was a very enthusiastic soccer mom, watching (and cheering on) her daughters from their early years, to them finishing out their college careers.  She happily took on the role of grandmother, affectionately known as Nana.  Martha was also a loving sister, daughter, aunt and a devoted friend to many.  Her positive outlook and generosity will be missed by all who knew her.

As were her wishes, cremation rites were accorded. The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 3 until 8 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, 1445 Wentzville Pkwy., Wentzville, MO 63385. A memorial service will be held at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 360 E Broadway St., Sparta, IL 62286 on Saturday, February 22, 2020.  The visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. with the service directly following.
