Mary Catherine Henze

Mary Catherine Henze, 83, passed away on December 24, 2024, in O'Fallon, Missouri. Born on March 29, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, she lived a life filled with kindness, faith, and an unwavering dedication to others.

Mary devoted her career to teaching elementary school students in St. Louis' inner city. She found joy in her work, often remarking on how eager her students were to learn. Her generosity and passion for education left a lasting impact on the many young lives she touched.

Beyond her career, Mary had a deep love for the outdoors and was an avid hobby farmer. She cared for horses, chickens, and dogs while tending to a thriving vegetable garden and apple orchard. Later in life, she dedicated herself to rescuing unwanted and difficult dogs, offering them the love and care they deserved.

Mary’s faith was central to her life. She had a profound love for God and the Catholic Church and was never afraid to share it with others. Her devotion was inspiring to those around her.

Those who knew Mary will remember her as a fun-loving and playful person who embraced life with enthusiasm. Her happy demeanor, quick wit, and infectious smile made her a joy to be around. She believed in treating others with kindness, enjoying life to the fullest, laughing often, and loving God wholeheartedly.

Mary is survived by her dear friend Allene Wernle; nieces and nephews Laura Norcutt (Jeff), Rita Jones (Tim), Joe Henze (Pam), Larry Henze (Karen), Charlie Henze (Claire), Ruth Ann Skorich, Michael Henze, Karen Henze; as well as many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred Henze and Cecilia Henze (née Jansen) and her four brothers Bill (Thelma), Carl (Rosemary), Walter (Mildred), Robert Henze, 2 baby brothers and one baby sister.

Mary’s legacy of kindness, laughter, and faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to all who loved her. She is buried at Our Lady Catholic Cemetery, 8701 Orf Road, Lake Saint Louis, MO.
