***Please Note: The Oehler family requests that all visitors please wear masks and practice social distancing***

Mavis Helen Oehler of Lake St. Louis passed away July 5, 2020 at the age of 102 years.

She is survived by two children, Jack Oehler and wife, Janet of Lake St. Louis and Patti Dearth and husband, Bobby of Kansas City, MO; nine grandchildren, Ryan Oehler, Sean Oehler, Jonathan Oehler, Jacob Oehler, Dillon White, Ashley White, Sam Dearth, Austin Dearth, and Abby Dearth; five great grandchildren, Sydney, Connor, Gwen, Westin, and Maeve; many nieces and nephews in Australia and the United States.

Mavis was born February 28, 1918 in Sydney, Australia; daughter of the late William Manners and his wife, Nellie O’Connor Manners. She loved to travel. As a young woman, she sailed from Australia to the United States to visit her sister in St. Louis. It was there she met the love of her life, Vic Oehler.

After marriage, she was a homemaker and mom before working many years as a saleslady at Nieman-Marcus Department Store. She was an avid reader and gardener and enjoyed doing a crossword puzzle a day.

Once her children were born, she decided to become a United States citizen in order to exercise her right to vote. She was delighted to have two of her great grandchildren, Sydney and Maeve, named after her and her birth city.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dardenne Prairie.

Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Oehler, daughter-in-law, Laurie Oehler, and four siblings, Jack Manners, Harry Manners, Patricia Briner, and Marjorie Reidy.

Mavis will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
