Meredith Hunter Rockwell (Bollmeier), of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025 at the age of 83.
Born on February 6, 1941 in St. Louis, MO to Raymond and Maryrose Hunter (nee Kehoe), she grew up in Webster Groves and attended Nerix Hall. Meredith was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and a cherished friend to many.
Meredith had a contagious smile that touched everyone she met. She had a love for gardening, flowers, birds, butterflies and home decorating. Meredith is well known for being an activist for the environment. She was the co-founder of the St. Charles Countians Against Hazardous Waste, serving as the Chairman and later as Director of the citizens group. Meredith’s dedication was instrumental in writing the Superfund Grant to clean up the Weldon Spring Ordnance Works Site. Her commitment to the community was extraordinary.
Meredith is survived by her children, Eddie Bollmeier(Cathy), Bill Bollmeier, Raymond Bollmeier, Amy Fischer (Dennis); and her grandchildren, Jack Anyan and Gage Fischer; her sisters, Susan Hunter Missey and Sally Hunter, sister in-law Margo Hunter and many adored nieces and nephews.
Meredith is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Peter W. Rockwell and her brother Larry Hunter.
A visitation is being held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm and a service on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Pittman Funeral Home, 1545 Wentzville Parkway, Wentzville, Missouri 63385.
