Michael Gregory Bira, 28, of Marthasville, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023. He was the beloved son of Judi Bira, and Greg and Suzanne Bira.
Michael was a graduate of Washington High School, class of 2013, where he loved spending time with his team on the roller hockey rink. Upon graduating, he enrolled and attended KU and then Missouri S&T, where he sought a degree in Geological Engineering. At Missouri S&T, he was very involved with his Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity and loved leading the team in the annual St. Pat's competitions and traditions. Some of his favorites were carving the team Cudgel and toting it around campus to the Snake Pits; most notably in 2017 and 2018, when they took 1st place in the competitions.
Michael was a gentle, kind soul, with an infectious smile and anyone who met him was drawn to him; evident by how his cousins adored him and flocked to him at family gatherings. He loved playing his guitar (self-taught) and hanging with his four-legged fur-baby pup. When he wasn't doing this, you could find him sketching, hiking or hanging with family and friends, enjoying a Blues, Cardinals or KU game. Michael's light shined brightly in all he did and he will forever be missed.
Those left behind to miss Michael include his loving mother, Judi Bira, and loving parents Greg and Suzanne Bira; his brothers (and sisters-in-law), Kyle (Robin) Bira, Joshua Bira, Stephen (Kaitlyn) Amburn, and Robert Bira; his nephews and nieces, Bennett and Owen Bira, Abigail and Madison Amburn, and Kora Bira; his grandmas, Mary Ann Bira and Kay Kelpe; and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.
A visitation will be held in Michael's honor, at Immaculate Heart of Mary, in New Melle on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 10:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass to celebrate his life at 11:00am. Immediately thereafter, the Rite of Committal and burial will take place on the parish grounds and a luncheon will be served in the Grand Hall on site. Family and friends are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
